Dear Colleagues,
Occupational Safety and Health Act (previously Labor Safety and Health Act) was implemented on July 3, 2014 and is applied to all walks of life, including educational institutions.
As stated in the Occupational Safety and Health Act, employers should provide regular health checkup to their employees and any violations shall be subject to a fine of no less than NT$30,000 but no more than NT$150,000, while employees have the obligation to participate in the checkup and violators shall be subject to a fine of no more than $NT3,000.
To comply with relevant laws and regulations, Campus Health Services Section of Student Affairs Division has arranged to hold the 2017-18 health checkup on Taipei and Taoyuan campus on January 3 and 4, 2018. Meanwhile, important indicators for cardiovascular diseases: High-density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (HDL) and Low-density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (LDL), and on-site consultation with a physician are added as regulated in the Act.
In accordance with relevant laws, only those who have had a health checkup outside of the university comprising items that meet the standards for employee health checkup within three months prior to the health checkup held by the university may waive the health checkup (Those health checkup reports need to be submitted to Campus Health Services Section to let us know). All other full-time faculty and staff members and full-time special program employees are required to participate in the health checkup to be held in January, 2018. Those who cannot take health checkup on that date are required to complete the checkup at a medical institution recognized by Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Ministry of Labor at their own expense and submit a copy of the results report to Campus Health Services Section by the end of January.
Best Regards,
